What’s the weather like in Sitka?

Sitka temperatures range from 50 to 70 degrees during the summer so we recommend that you bring warm layers of clothing so that you can adjust to both rain and sun. For your convenience we provide all of the highest quality rain gear, bibs, hooded coats and knee high rubber boots.

All of your fish processing is included

We professionally process, fillet cut in portion size, vacuum pack, and flash freeze your fish. Your catch will be boxed in airline approved wet-lock boxes and delivered to the airport for your convenience. The careful handling and process of your catch ensures you the highest quality so your fish will taste as fresh as the day you catch it!

What should I bring?

Be sure to bring your camera or video to capture all the excitement. We recommend you limit your luggage to ONE carry-on per person. So when you depart you can check your fish on the plane, at no additional charge. We recommend that you bring layered clothing so that you can adjust to the weather and you do not want to forget you camera because there is lots of wildlife- whales, eagles, sea otters, puffins, sea Lions, several varieties of sea birds, brown bears and deer along the island shores.

Do we need a float plane or shuttle boat to get to your location?

The disadvantage of a remote fishing lodge is that they require a float plane and are subject to ad versed weather conditions, heavy fog restricted visibility being stuck going or coming to and from and not being able to get there. No Wi-Fi, internet, phones, hospitals, medical care, shared bedrooms, bathrooms and showers.  You are “Limited” on how much fish you can bring back. Lodges located in remote locations requiring a float plane  are NOT your best choice!! When you book your trip with us no-float plane is required. Alaska Airlines offers daily direct flight to Sitka from Seattle. We have Wi-Fi, internet, phone/fax, each bedroom has it’s own private bathroom & showers and you can take home all the fish that you catch!

How much time fishing do we get each day??

Many lodges and charters do back to back schedule so you will NOT get full days of fishing with them. Example 3-nights 3-days fishing- The day you arrive you will get a 1/2 of fishing depending when you arrive and the day that you leave you will get a 1/2 day of fishing if your flight schedule will allow. In most cases this does not give you much time do to flight schedules and if you do catch any fish on your last day there is NO-way to properly take care flash freeze and vacuum pack your fish in order to make your flight. They may suggest shipping your fish but this is very expensive. We do NOT offer back-to-back trips so our customers can be assured of getting full days 8 to 10 hours each day and all of the fish that you catch will be properly filled, cut into portion size flash frozen, boxed in airline-approved wet-lock boxes and be delivered to the airport 2-hours prior to your scheduled departure so you can take all of your fish home as checked baggage and avoid costly shipping costs.

Do we need to bring rain gear?

When you book your fishing trip with us we supply everything! All you do is catch lots of fish have a GREAT time!! and leave everything else up to us!

How do you fish?

You will find that most all lodges and charters fish with down riggers and only fish with two rods so you have to take your turn. When you book your trip with us EVERYONE fishes, EVERYONE catches fish and EVERYONE has a Great time! Our fishing method, called “mooching” is the Number#1 most effective way to catch lots of fish, it provides EVERYONE with lots of excitement and action for EVERYONE! We offer light tackle fishing, mooching and jigging for salmon, halibut, ling cod and rockfish.

Can we fish for and keep Halibut ?

Keep in mind that not all charters in Alaska can fish for halibut without the proper permits. When you book your trip with us EVERYONE can fish for halibut. We have all of the proper Halibut permits that are required.

Do you offer discounts or web specials?

You will find that all charters and lodges that offer Specials are for (selected dates only and are NOT prime fishing dates). They are very early or at the end of the season and not at all your best choice.

When is the BEST time to make your reservations for a “PRIME” fishing date?

We do not advertise and do not attend any sport shows and are 100% booked every season
with a large number of return guests. Our “Prime” fishing season is from May 15th to September 15th

Do we pay for our own fish processing?

All of your fish processing is included We take the handling and processing of your fish seriously. This process starts immediately once your fish is on board. It is properly bled, cleaned and iced. We have our own 1,000 sq. ft. professional processing facility that includes three commercial grade vacuum sealers, 12’ stainless steel fillet tables and a walk-in blast freezer.
